There has been lots of talk about the new courthouse. I want to share my views about the courthouse. I support building the courthouse back into the town square. I also support spending the money to make sure we have a courthouse that will make us proud. The courthouse serves as the foundation of Morgan County in leadership and guidance. After serious consideration, I realized that all over the United States most small towns have the courthouse as the focal point in their town. However, I do not want to burden Morgan County with higher taxes to pay for a new courthouse because our elected officials did not have enough fire insurance. So how do we correct this? I would suggest selling assets of the county so we can come up with the money to not just build the new courthouse but provide Morgan County citizens with tax relief. We need to be proud of our courthouse. Pride and respect needs to be installed back into our Morgan County elective officials. We have voted and elected these individuals to represent the citizens of Morgan County. Respect and trust also needs to be earned by our elected officials. I encourage everyone in Morgan County to think long and hard before going to the polls this year.
Consistency, honesty and integrity should be at the top of everyone’s list.
