I am not affected by this, but this whole situation has been bothering me since it started.  Couple quick questions/comments to think about.  First, how many millions of dollars did it cost to extend the sewer line for 250 people, and at $50 a month how many years will it take to recoup the cost (I currently support the government and a Return on Investment 'ROI' of 5 years is standard, or your project may not get budgeted)?  Was this done to lay the foundation for the potential hopital but put the burden of the cost on unwilling homeowners?  How wonderful that the State is offering low interest loans of up to $10K for homeowners to connect - so the state also makes out good on this deal.

Governor Manchin wants to extend sewer/water lines to all of rural West Virginia, and if the state does, then the state should pay for it or grandfather current homes and only require new homes to connect to it.  If a current septic tank is leaking or is in some other way an environmental/health hazard, than those homeowners should have connect to the public sewer lines.

This is another example of the People not having a voice in matters effecting them.  Before this project was approved, it should have been put on the previous May Primary or November General election to be voted on and approved/disapproved by the People.

An article in the Messenger made me smile as I read it. The article talked about the new sewer hookups on Fairview Drive. It ran through various numbers and statistics and costs, but the one that caught my eye was: [Out of 250 required hookups] Hovermale said he's had half a dozen homeowners call his office eager to hook on to the sewer service." Wow, a whole six homeowners out of two hundred and fifty are incredibly eager to pay to collapse their septic systems and hook up to the brand spanking new sewer system. This innocent comment speaks volumes to the fact that most homeowners neither wanted or needed this service. I then rescanned over the article and saw something else, "Billing for sewer service will begin within 30 days" whether the service is hooked up or not. This made me wonder how many of those six people that were so eager to hook up to the sewer were actually wanting the service. Perhaps they just weren't so eager to pay for a service they weren't receiving. If you were affected by this I just want to hear your thoughts, and from the commissioners, were any of you affected by this?
