I am starting this post due to the concern presented by Rusty Shacklflord.

First, illegal drugs are everywhere in America.  It does seem like there is an abundance of drug problems in Morgan County, just read the police report in The Morgan Messenger each week.  I am willing to bet that by population, we have an above average drug problem in our area compared to other equivalent counties.

Prescription drugs, this is very serious and whether kids are stealing their parents and selling them or whether adults are selling them, examples should be made of these folks when they are caught.  Meth and other "concocted" drugs are dangerous cause you have no idea what is in them and these are easy to come by.  Typical crack and cocaine are also pretty abundent around here.

I have also noticed that some of the drug raids have involved out of state residents.  I don't want to get off on another subject, but I think the ease and availability of weekly (very short term) rental establishments entice some of this activity.

Drugs in school, on campus, off campus, bought/sold by children and adults is a major problem that needs to be dealt with.  We have Bath, County and State police that need to work together more to help substantially reduce the drug problem.  However, they cannot do it without the funding and support of the County Commission.  There are always random (though advertised before hand) DUI/DWI Checks, so why not Drug checks?  Or, why not provide more funding so the local police forces could pull resources more often to do more raids?
